Abstract

Anantapur District in Andhra Pradesh is facing worst ecological and environmental crisis, primarily due to prolonged drought conditions. Lack of proper land use policy and system of land management have led to imbalance in eco-system where in the productivity level of agricultural lands is on the decline. Since over exploitation of natural resources like soil, water and vegetation are responsible for the poor socio-economic conditions oflocal people, strategy for sustainable development should be adopted at the village level, to upischolar_main poverty where it gets created.

Abstract

Large extent of marginal private lands occur in Andhra Pradesh. Together with field bund/field perimeter, the farmlands offer a great potential for tree growing. Past experience in the State has shown that Farm Forestry is the only way to bring about self suffieiency in wood and wood products. However. Success of the programme largely depends on the extension and marketing support.
